By his teens, Santostefano was performing stand-up comedy in his hometown of Boston. He began working professionally as a director while attending New York University Film School, creating award-winning short films and documentaries. After college, Santostefano established a production company where he developed and directed film and television projects for HBO, Showtime, PBS and Paramount Television. He also directed several Off-Broadway stage productions including award-winning plays at The American Place Theater. For the renowned BAM Festival (Brooklyn Academy of Music) he directed Stockhausen's contemporary opera "Leben."

Santostefano began a screenwriting career upon selling his first screenplay to Columbia Pictures and has continued writing and co-writing screenplays for several studios. He has recently written the MTV pilot "Love Dies and Then You Do" as well as the one-hour dramatic pilot "Drift" for the Fox T.V./20th Century Fox Studios.

As a director, Santostefano recently completed the Warner Brothers feature film "Three To Tango" starring Matthew Perry, Neve Campbell and Dylan McDermott. He also received a CableACE Award for Best Series for his direction of Nickelodeon's popular "The Adventures of Pete and Pete." Other directing credits include "Clueless"; HBO's/David Letterman's "The Highlife"; and "Bob and Sully," which he created and wrote. He also recently completed the pilot "Kill Kill Kill" for Studios USA which has been picked up for 13 episodes for a Fall 2000 launch.
